  • The expansion investment is said to be worth $2 billion and the long-awaited permit will allow it to extend operations until 2036, from a previous closing date of 2028. For reference, the Antamina mine in the Andes Mountains of Peru is one of the largest copper/zinc mines in the world.
  • Antamina produced 435,000 metric tons of copper last year, 7% less than in 2022, according to government figures.
