ANZ Expect Continued Moderation In Y/Y CPI

AUSTRALIA

Ahead of today’s monthly CPI reading ANZ “expect there was a 0.3% m/m rise in the monthly CPI indicator in February. This would be seasonally strong but would also mean the annual rate would fall to 6.8%, down from the peak of 8.4% in December. Petrol prices will be up around 5% m/m and the annual February increase in education fees will likely be another solid one. But holiday prices will see a larger unwind than in January when they fell 7.2% m/m after the 27.0% surge in December.”
