ANZ Spending Data: Smaller States Offset East Coast Malaise

ANZ note that their spending data for the week to 21 August was "similar to April 2020 levels in Sydney, while Melbourne spending showed a slight bump despite persistent lockdown conditions. Spending in smaller states has remained above pre-COVID levels and is keeping national spending resilient. Again, lockdowns showed no signs of scarring as spending in Brisbane and South Australia bounced back as soon as local restrictions eased."
