Net consumer credit rebounded after its sharp fall in March, rising to 
stg1.832bn, with the bulk of the rise attributed to 'other' lending 
which includes motor finance. The result also constituted an improvement 
on the February outturn of stg1.661bn. New mortgage approvals fell in 
April to 62,455, but were broadly unchanged from the 62,802 approvals in 
March. The April result was lower than the six month average of 63,968 
and means approvals have fallen for three straight months. Annual growth 
in secured lending grew from from 3.3% in March to 3.4% in April.
