Aramco Considering Further LNG Investments

LNG

Aramco is looking at making additional investments into LNG, with some deals in the pipeline, according to its CEO Amir Nasser.

  • “We are looking at using gas in kingdom for blue hydrogen and LNG, we are looking at additional investments to be a leading player in LNG,” Nasser said at the Energy Intelligence Forum, reported by Reuters.
  • Aramco has already acquired a minority stake in LNG company MidOcean Energy. MidOcean is looking to acquire interests in four LNG projects.
  • Within Saudi Arabia, Aramco’s gas production is used domestically, such as for power generation and water desalination, and is not exported.
  • However, the spike in gas and LNG prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has made the commodity on the global markets a more attractive investment.
  • In 2019, Aramco’ CEO said the company aimed to export up to 3 bcf/d of gas via pipelines or through LNG by 2030.
