ASIA STOCKS: Asia stocks traded in mixed fashion, after a negative lead from
Wall St.
- The Nikkei 225 started the month on the back foot as the the JPY's EU/US
session strength weighed on risk appetite, this led to the index trading 1.4%
lower. Electronics names weighed, although the declines were broad based.
- Hong Kong's Hang Seng & Chinese bourses benefitted from a stronger than exp.
Chinese Caixin Manufacturing PMI release & the PBoC resuming its open market
operations. The Hang Seng was 0.2% higher while the CSI 300 outperformed,
trading up 0.9%.
- The ASX 200 traded 0.9% lower as heavyweight energy and material names were
amongst the largest losers.
- US index futures edged lower overnight with e-mini S&P500 4 points lower, as
the mini Dow traded 35 points lower.
