AUD Outperforming In Thin Liquidity

An uneventful session so far in terms of headline flow. The Aussie shows some light outperformance, with Antipodean liquidity likely thinned by the Anzac holiday across the Tasman. AUD up around 12 pips at 0.7751, still below the Friday high of 0.7765. NZD is flat at 0.7199.

  • USD/JPY re-opened higher as trading went underway in Tokyo, but has already pared most of its early gains. The pair last operates at 107.93, a touch higher on the day. Data showed Japan Services PPI rose 0.7% Y/Y, above estimates of 0.0%.
  • USD/CNH is down 27 pips having opened lower, the pair briefly rose to 6.4909 quickly paring the move. Last week the yuan recorded its biggest weekly gain against the dollar since January. There were reports in the China Securities Times today that a government think tank sees GDP growth at 8% this year.
