AUSSIE: AUD/USD last $0.7128, 15 pips higher on the day, amidst broader
greenback fragility.
- Bulls look for a break above the Dec 20 high of $0.7149, which would bring the
55-DMA at $0.7175 into view. On the downside, bears eye the 23.6% fibo
retracement of the move from $0.6741 to $0.7138, ahead of the NY Jan 4 low of
$0.7027. Also worth highlighting the A$1.23bn option expiry at $0.7150 that will
roll off at today's 10AM NY cut.
- Trade balance due tomorrow and domestic retail sales due Friday headline the
Australian docket this week, while global developments will also attract
attention, as the U.S. and China are holding bilateral trade talks at vice-min
level.
