AUSSIE
AUSSIE: AUD/USD last sits slightly off lows at $0.6763, 18 pips worse off. The
rate slid as risk sentiment turned sour, with BBG trader sources pointing to
AUD/JPY sales when S&P500 futures entered negative territory. On the data front,
Australian CBA PMIs were rather disappointing, with both services & composite
tallies moving into contractionary territory; however, no immediate AUD reaction
was noted upon the release of the survey.
- The 23.6% fibo retracement of the Jul-Aug slide at $0.6773 and trendline
support at $0.6764 gave way, shifting bearish focus to the Aug 14 low of
$0.6736. Conversely, a return above the breached levels would encourage bulls to
target the $0.6800 barrier again.
- RBA Governor Lowe's address at Jackson Hole, scheduled for U.S. hours on
Saturday, is the only real event of note on the local docket during the
remainder of the week.
