AUDUSD Moderately Higher, Above 50-day MA

Aussie has been trading in a narrow range with no new local information during the APAC session with it reaching a low of 0.6670 followed by a high of 0.6691. It is currently around 0.6690, above the 50-day moving average. The USD index is 0.2% lower.

  • AUDJPY is flat at about 95.98 after reaching a low of 95.60 following comments from the MoF on intervention and the BoJ summary of opinions. AUDNZD is down 0.3% to 1.0843, as rate differentials widen. Aussie is flat versus the euro and pound at 0.6134 and 0.5254 respectively.
  • Equity markets are generally weaker with the ASX down 0.4% and the CSI 300-1.5% but the Nikkei up 0.2%. The S&P e-mini is 0.2% higher. Brent is up 0.3% to $74.10, but off the intraday high of $74.80. Copper is 0.7% higher but iron ore is down to around $107.50/t.
  • Later there is the German IFO survey for June and the US Dallas Fed June manufacturing index. ECB President Lagarde will give opening remarks at the ECB Forum.
