ASIAN MARKETS, AUSSIE-YEN
AUSSIE-YEN: AUD/JPY oscillates within a tight range and last sits -5 pips at
Y71.39, as the Antipodeans underperform their G10 peers at the margin. Little to
rock the boat seen on the wires so far. The limited move lower in the spot has
likely been driven by a fading risk-off impetus, generated in late NY hours by
President Trump's announcement that he will hold a presser on China Friday.
- A dip through the 100-DMA at Y70.24 would draw attention to Y69.94, the low of
May 22. Bulls look for a rally above May 27 high/200-DMA at Y71.93/72.11 before
targeting the 76.4% retracement of the Dec 27 - Mar 19 sell-off at Y72.62.
- Japan's Tokyo CPI & labour mkt data, due shortly, will open a slew of today's
data releases out of this country. Retail sales & flash industrial output are
due a little bit later, with housing starts coming up in the Asia/EU crossover.
Australia will publish its private sector credit data.
