Australia Apr Retail Sales +1.1% M/M

  • Australia retail sales rose 1.1% m/m in April in seasonally adjusted estimate.
  • This is unchanged from the Preliminary Retail Trade release and slower than the 1.3% m/m growth recorded in March.
  • Retail sales rose 25.0% compared with April 2020, sharply higher than the 2.2% y/y increase in March.
  • Food retailing rose 1.4% ($168.3m), household goods retailing rose 1.5% ($82.9m) and clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing rose 1.2% ($29.1m) in April.
