STOCKS: Australian equities look set to close at their highest levels of the
week. The ASX holds toward the peak of its 6,198.70-6,249.40 range with gains of
+0.75%.
- The Hang Seng struggled through Asia. Failure to reclaim the 30,000 level
yesterday saw the downtrend briefly extend through 29,700.00. Last at 29,742.50
-0.33%.
- Mainland Chinese equities remain in negative territory. The CSI 300 briefly
reclaimed the 4,000 level. but has since pared gains. Last at 3,970.75 -0.67%.
The Hang Seng is currently registering losses of -0.37%.
- Improved risk appetite boosted the Nikkei 225 to consolidate above the
21,850.00 level. Last +0.66%.
- US equity futures are currently generating modest gains across the board. S&P
500 +.350, DJIA +47.00, NASDAQ +4.00.
