Austria On Target for 80% Storage: Energy Minister

Austria is on track to meet it’s 80% gas storage target by November 1 even with the recent Nord Stream 1 news according to Austrian Energy Minister Leonore Gewessler, who spoke to broadcaster ORF this week.

  • "I have to assume that this was a political announcement. For Austria, this means that we are on course to achieve our storage target. If that changes, we will of course take measures, but we see that Nord Stream 1 is not the central supply route for us. This is different from Germany," she said.
  • Austria has been able to top up gas supplies even while Nord Stream 1 was undergoing maintenance by sourcing supplies from Russia via Ukraine.
