Azerbaijan Oil Production down 6.9% on year Jan-Aug

Production of crude and condensates in Azerbaijan during the first eight months of 2023 was 20.3m mt, according to a statement by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.

  • This suggests a 6.9% fall on the previous year, based on the figures from the Ministry of Energy’s website showing 21.8mt were produced last year from Jan-Aug.
  • Exports of crude and condensates fell to 17m mt, compared to 17.6m mt in 2022 from Jan-Aug.
  • Azerbaijan’s oil production is declining as the country’s largest deposit, the BP-led Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, is in natural decline.
