Bangladesh to Purchase 24 Spot LNG Cargoes in 2024

LNG

Bangladesh is planning to slightly raise LNG procurement in the spot market next year to 24 cargoes as its long-term suppliers are unwilling to boost supplies under existing contracts, a senior official from Petrobangla told Platts.

  • Bangladesh is planning to import 24 LNG cargoes from the spot market in 2024, compared with 23 cargoes this year, the official said.
  • "If the spot LNG prices become more favorable, we may purchase more spot LNG cargoes in 2024," the official added.
  • The country has two existing long-term LNG suppliers, Qatargas and OQ Trading, that will supply a total of 56 LNG cargoes next year, matching 2022 and 2023 levels.
