Bank Indonesia Keeps Policy Rate Unchanged At 6.00%

Bank Indonesia kept its key interest rate unchanged at 6.00% as expected by all analysts polled by Bloomberg.

  • The central bank said that the rate is in line with the +1.5%-3.0% Y/Y inflation target and with its pro-stability policy.
  • Bank Indonesia noted that inflation remains within target and is expected to remain there this year.
  • Indonesia's economic growth is expected to be +4.7%-5.5% Y/Y this year, with the central bank describing it as "solid."
  • Bank Indonesia sees the rupiah staying stable with a tendency to appreciate. It will continue market interventions with focus on spot and domestic NDF markets.
