Banxico Deputy Governor Suggests Normalization May Extend to 2023

  • Banxico could continue its current path of raising interest rates into 2023, Banxico board member Gerardo Esquivel said in interview with Bloomberg Linea.
    • The most dovish member of the Banxico committee, Gerardo Esquivel, said the current normalization cycle at Banxico could extend into 2023 depending on domestic consumer prices.
    • He would not commit to voting again for a 50 basis point increase in the reference rate at the next central bank meeting, saying the decision will depend on the latest data. (BBG)
