BCCh Economist Survey, Marcel Calls For Fiscal Pact Accord

  • Chile central bank will publish its first economist survey since the 100bp rate cut last month. The data will be released at 1330BST/0830ET. This could prompt economists to revise their expectations for the next policy meetings. However, expectations for inflation should remain the focus of the report.
  • On Wednesday, Chile Finance Minister Mario Marcel said the economy will return to growth soon and called on political parties to back the fiscal pact, lamenting continued spats between different lawmakers. Marcel said there should be positive growth figures in second half of the year and that inflation is continuing to ease and will end this year around 4%. He added that the start of interest rate cuts will help spur investments in the nation.
