Bettors Pile Onto 2022 As PM Johnson Exit Year

Political punters have piled into bets for 2022 to be the exit year for Boris Johnson as UK prime minister following today's revelation about further COVID lockdown-breaking gatherings at Downing Street in 2020.

  • Implied probability of 2022 being the year Johnson leaves office spiked to 49.5% at the time of writing, up from 33.8% on 10 January. The implied probability of his leaving office in 2024 or later (at or beyond the next general election) has fallen from 42.7% to 38.9% in the same time period.
