Biden And Trump Tied On Approval But Both Lower Than In 2020

US

A new survey from Gallup has found that President Biden and former President Donald Trump are effectively tied on approval not notably both record approve numbers below those they experienced ahead of the 2020 election.

  • Gallup notes: "Biden is viewed favorably by 41% of U.S. adults, eight percentage points below his 49% favorable rating in October 2020.
  • "Trump’s 42% favorable rating is slightly lower than his 45% reading in October 2020 but improved from his weaker ratings in 2021 and 2022 when he faced intense criticism over his handling of the election outcome, including the Jan. 6 riots."
  • The survey supports analysis that suggests that the winner in November is likely to be determined by whomever better motivates the turnout of their core base.
  • Biden, recognising a drift in support amongst Black voters, delivered a campaign speech in South Carolina yesterday arguing that White supremacy is, "a poison, throughout our history, that's ripped this nation apart. This has no place in America. Not today, tomorrow or ever."
