Biden Approval Underwater Despite Well Received Israel Response

US

President Biden’s approval rating remains underwater despite Republican dysfunction in the House of Representatives and a widely praised response to the war between Israel and Hamas.

  • According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden’s approval of 36.6% is close to lows he experienced in late-summer last year when uncertainly over inflation and energy prices dragged on Biden's approval.
  • A recent poll from Marist found that, “President Biden’s overall job approval rating remains upside down. 43% of Americans approve of the job he is doing, little changed from 42% earlier this month.”
  • The Marist survey found that, “Nearly two in three Americans (65%) say the United States government should publicly support Israel in the war between Israel and Hamas,” and “at least a majority of Republicans (77%), Democrats (69%), and independents (54%) favor U.S. public support of Israel.”
  • The survey suggests that, similar to early strong support for Ukraine, Americans are reluctant to equate support for foreign policy positions with approval of Biden.
