Biden's Approval Rating Dips Ahead Of Michigan Democratic Primary

US

A new survey from Gallup has found that President Biden’s approval rating has dropped three-percentage-points to 38%, just short of Gallup’s all-time low for Biden.

  • Gallup notes: “In addition, Biden registers subpar approval ratings for his handling of five key issues facing the U.S., including a new low of 28% for immigration and readings ranging from 30% to 40% for the situation in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, foreign affairs, the economy and the situation in Ukraine.”
  • Biden will face the first concrete voter evaluation of his Middle East policy at the Democrat presidential primary election in Michigan tomorrow. A state which has a high proportion of Arab-American and Muslim-Americans - who voted overwhelmingly for Biden in 2020 - but are now threatening to abandon the President if he doesn’t change course on Israel.
  • A group of Democrats, led by high-profile progressive Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), is pushing for Democrats to vote “uncommitted.”
  • Axios notes: “Michigan's growing Arab American population voted more Republican until the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq in the early 2000s under former President George W. Bush. Now the Trump campaign is courting these disaffected Biden voters.”
