  • Hanna Trudo at the Hill tweeted yesterday after Biden pledged to codify Roe as his first piece of business for next Congress: “Abortion as a closing pitch was always going to be a really risky proposition. [...] the cost of gas is *extremely* important to nearly everyone, abortion is simply not.”
  • White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain replied: “Not an either / or. [Biden] spoke about abortion today, will speak about gas prices tomorrow.”
  • Biden is expected to announce plans to leave open the possibility of further releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve beyond the 180m barrels authorised in the summer.
