Boric Vows To Push Ahead With Reforms Amid Waning Popularity

  • President Gabriel Boric vowed to push ahead with reforms after recognising that little progress has been made in addressing social discontent as the nation marked the anniversary of 2019 unrest.
    • “Today we have a new opportunity to build the bases of a more just and dignified society,” said the former student leader who took over the presidency in March of this year. “This is the moment to act.”
  • As a reminder, President Boric's Approval rating has fallen 6pts to 27%, slipping below the 30% barrier for the first time. 65% (+5pts) disapprove of his management according to the latest survey results released by Cadem on Sunday.
  • Despite a mixed session yesterday for USDCLP, the greenback bid has prompted a 1% gap higher at the open. USDCLP has recently cleared resistance at 955.10, Aug 22 high and in the process bullish conditions have strengthened, signalling scope for 1000.00 and 1061.00 further out, the Jul 14 high.
