Borsa Istanbul Trading Ends Early as Eid Celebrations Begin

  • Trading at Borsa Istanbul ends at 1040BST/1240 local time as the nation begins celebrating the Eid holidays. Markets re-open next Monday.
  • USD/TRY trades 0.65% lower today, shy of the 26.00 handle, having closed higher for four consecutive sessions prior following last week’s CBRT rate decision and easing of some "liraization" measures over the weekend. The Borsa Istanbul Index begins the session on slightly softer footing having traded to a fresh record high of 5749.66 yesterday.
  • Hurriyet report that a delegation from the UAE visited Turkey to discuss investment opportunities in renewable energy, defense and infrastructure projects such as subways and high-speed rail. Increasing trade between the nations was also discussed.
