Brazil Set to Import Record Volumes of Russian Oil Product August

OIL PRODUCTS

Brazil is set to import record amounts of Russian oil products in August, as Russia becomes its top supplier, according to Kpler.

  • Kpler forecasts imports of Russian petroleum products to hit 235k b/d in August, up 25% from July. This would far surpass imports from the US, formerly Brazil’s top supplier of refined products.
  • Kpler had noted weaker Russia-Brazil diesel flows earlier in the month possibly indicating more vessels are now signaling for the country and are due to arrive this month.
  • Brazil has been increasing its imports of Russian oil since the G7 price cap on Russian oil products began. It is now the second largest importer of Russian diesel after Turkey.
  • Russia has also begun shipping gasoline to Brazil, although in smaller volumes. Naphtha shipments to Brazil could also increase in the coming months, according to Kpler.
