Breeden considered for Deputy Governor - Bloomberg

BOE
  • Bloomberg has run a sources piece stating that Sarah Breeden is being considered for the BOE's Deputy Governor position (that of Cunliffe's when he retires in October). She was always considered one of the leading candidates so it's no surprise - but it does seem to be hinting more strongly than we have seen in the past.
  • She is currently an ED for Financial Stability Strategy and Risk and sits on the FPC. She's been at the BOE since 1991 and has never publicly had a role where she would talk about monetary policy, but given her length of time at the Bank, would generally be considered not too far from the other internal members of the MPC in terms of her views.
