CANADA: Bloc Quebecois Reject Conservative Nonconfidence Motion Against Trudeau

CANADA
  • The Bloc's Yves-Francois Blanchet tells reporters Wednesday he won't side with a non-confidence motion in the Liberal government likely coming from the Conservatives next week.
  • Earlier, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said his motion would read “The House has no confidence in the Prime Minister and the Government.”
  • Blanchet today repeated his earlier position that his separatist party's only consideration on such motions is what parties can deliver for Quebec, and that simply replacing Justin Trudeau accomplishes nothing.
  • CBC reported earlier the Conservative motion may come for a vote next Wednesday.
