Canada FM-In Talks w/Euro Partners On Upping East Coast Exports

Reuters reporting comments from Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly stating that the Canadian gov't is in talks with European partners 'including Spain and Germany' about how to step-up energy exports from Canada's east coast.

  • Comes after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated at the G7 summit in Germany that “We will be there in the short term with any support we can", adding that "LNG infrastructure is the same type of infrastructure that will be needed as we transition to hydrogen.”
  • From Tsvetana Paraskova at Oilprice.com, "In the short term, Canada cannot really help Europe with LNG supply as it doesn’t have any operational LNG export facility yet. Several projects have been proposed, discussed, and advanced in recent years, but none has progressed to an operational stage yet."
