Central Bank Chief Refuses To Rule Out Further Hikes

TAIWAN

Speaking after the decision to leave interest rates unchanged, CBC Governor Yang Chin-Long said that the central bank could still deliver more rate hikes if needed.

  • The official said that above-2% Y/Y inflation won't become a "new normal," while CPI is expected to ease to around +2% Y/Y in 4Q2023.
  • Yang noted that the TWD is steady thanks to a balance in supply and demand.
