Central Bank Leaves Key Rate Unchanged at 75%

  • The BCRA held the policy rate at 75%, where it has stayed since September. It was the central bank’s first meeting after the November inflation print was released.
  • Policymakers highlighted the slowdown in both the headline and core monthly readings in November and said that holding the rate would help consolidate financial and currency stability, and reinforce a gradual descent in inflation in the medium term.
    • They also vowed to continue actively using the policy rate and term structure of rates, as well as “all the other available tools” to tame current and prospective inflation.
