Chile Pension Bill Progresses Through Lower House

  • Chile's Lower House of Parliament has formally approved the first element of the universal pensions bill, which is now due to head to the Senate for approval. The bill effectively guarantees a payment of CLP185k per month, which heads to recipients via the state rather than the private pension system. The Chilean finance minister expects final approval for the bill this month.
