China Equities See Record Inflow, Outflows Continue In Indonesia

  • China equities saw the largest inflow on record on Friday, with a 22.44b yuan inflow. Equity markets were higher, the CSI300 continues its rangebound trading, with the 200-day acting as resistance, while we trade on the 50 & 100-day EMA act as support. Flow momentum has turned positive largely just linked to the 22b inflow on Friday with the 5-day average now 5.15b, 20-day average at -0.17b and the longer term 100-day average now 0.61B yuan.
  • Taiwan equities have bounced of recent lows and now trade back above all major EMAs, while flows in the short-term have turned positive with Friday seeing a $609m inflow. This week we have GDP tomorrow and PMI on Thursday. The 5-day average is now $90m, the 20-day at -$349m, while the 100-day average is now $53m.
  • South Korean equity flows have been mixed over the past 5-days, Friday saw a $287m inflow, while the Kospi was up about 1% on Friday and closed just above the 20 & 50-day EMA. The 5-day average is now -$52m, the 20-day average to $95m and the 100-day average to $171m.
  • Philippines equities ended a 14-day run out outflows on Thursday, and Friday was another positive day, with an inflow of $4.1m. The PSEi has bounced off the 6,400 level last week and now trades at the 20-day EMA. The 5-day average is -$9.7m, the 20-day average is -$9.1m, while the 100-day average continues to edge lower now at $0.45m.
  • Indonesian equities have now marked 17 of 18 days of outflows, with the single inflow just $400k, Friday saw a $133m outflow, taking the total flows from the past 18-days to $1.26B over that period. The 5-day average is now -$55m, the 20-day average is -$60m, while the longer term 100-day average is still positive at $11.5m.
  • Thailand's SET has been one of the worst performing equity markets in the region over the past year, having recently broken back below the 20, 50, 100 & 200-day EMA's, flows in the short to medium term have been mixed recently with Friday seeing a -$22m outflow. The 5-day average is $16.9m, 20-day average is $4.63m, while the longer term 200-day average is -$20m
