China LNG Demand Recovering with More PipeChina Import Slots Booked

China LNG appetite is recovering slowly with buyers booking more third-party access slots at the import terminals owned by PipeChina according to Bloomberg.

  • Spare capacity at LNG terminals for May to December fell 0.39m metric tons from last month according to PipeChina, equivalent to six slots.
  • Volumes however appear less than other Asian spot LNG buyers such as India and Thailand.
  • Buyers are possibly securing more spot cargoes to cover peak summer power demand and recovering industrial demand.
