China Oil Product Export Market Remains Supportive

OIL PRODUCTS

Chinese refiners may continue to boost exports in October, as the remaining quotas for Q4 are estimated at above 10mt according to Vortexa.

  • Some refiners may still be allowed to convert some remaining export quotas for LSFO to CPP quotas it added.
  • Vortexa estimates that China’s middle distillate exports will remain above 2mt/month in Q4, compared to around 1mt/month in Q2, but well below below the pace of 3.5mt/month averaged in Q4 last year.
  • Chinese product exports picked up in Q3, helped by recovering export margins.
  • After earlier suggestion of a fourth batch of oil product export quotas, a number of market sources have recently reported this is not looking likely.
