CHINA: China will impose a tax on residential property, but not soon, at least
in a few years, property experts and market insiders said in a property forum in
Beijing on Monday.
- China's property tax will not come soon, maybe in 2020 at the earliest, and it
would take even longer for specifics to be decided at the local level, Ouyang
Jie, who are involved with the government in some discussions on property
controls, and deputy CEO of Future Land, said.
 - The property market will continue to develop stably, without large
fluctuations, and policy controls will not be largely loosened, at least not
during President Xi's administration: Ouyang
 - China's high housing prices are driven by their own forces, decided by market
factors, with houses different from other goods: Dong Fan, director of the
Property Research Institute at Beijing Normal University.
