CHINA: China will unveil the top leadership of the Communist Party, the

Politburo Standing Committee, on Wednesday morning at 11:45 (03:45 GMT) at the

Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday. The

Standing Committee, with President Xi Jinping at the center as the party's

general secretary, is China's de facto decision-making body, with its rulings

seen as holding the force of law. The focus of the unveiling will be on whether

Xi has appointed any younger members to the Standing Committee who could one day

be Xi's successor. Media reports have said this is not likely to be the case,

which would mean Xi could be eyeing staying in control of China beyond his

coming second term as president, which ends in 2023.
