STOCKS: Chinese equities have operated on the front foot, shrugging of the
latest round of trade rhetoric from U.S. President Trump, choosing to seize on
Trump's acknowledgement that a meeting with Xi is scheduled & SCMP source
reports alluding to the chances of a formal dinner between Trump & Xi at the
G20. Although there has been no formal confirmation from Beijing the SCMP source
noted that the dinner "would be largely a replay of the summit in Argentina last
December."
- Australian stocks also moved higher after the long holiday weekend. Vocus were
amongst the outperformers on the back of a takeover bid.
- U.S. equity index futures edged higher.
- Nikkei 225 +0.4%, Hang Seng +0.8%, CSI 300 +0.8%, ASX 200 +1.3%.
- S&P 500 futures +6, DJIA futures +47, NASDAQ 100 futures +25.
