Chinese Independent Refineries Set to Hold Utilisation Rates

Chinese independent refineries gasoline and gasoil production was at a three year high in Q1 2024 with a combined production of 33.47 million tonnes year-to-date as of March 21 - up 3.74% y/y according to OilChem data.

  • Chinese independent refineries have maintained relatively high utilization rates recently, which averaged 61.54% over March 15-21, a w/w increase of 0.24%.
  • The corresponding gasoline and gasoil production managed a weekly gain of 1.7% at 2.75 million tonnes.
  • Looking ahead, the independent refineries are projected to keep the capacity utilization rates at the current level based on the available maintenance plans, based on an OilChem survey.
