Chinese LNG imports to rise 37.2% in week to Aug. 20

Imports of LNG into China are forecasted to rise to 1.55m mt in the next 7 days, according to OilChem, a rise of 37.2% on the previous week.

  • The total volume will be delivered to China by a total of 21 cargoes.
  • Of the origin sources, 0.64m mt is to be imported from Australia, 0.3m mt from the USA, and 0.28m mt from Qatar.
  • Chinese LNG demand has been on the rise, with sales volumes up 5.36% in the week to Aug. 10, driven by rising demand from industrial users.
  • The operating rate of Chinese LNG facilities was 57% Aug. 4-10, stable on the week and up 7% on the year.
