COAL: France, Germany Lower S.A, AUS Coal Imports Sharply on Month

France has decreased Australian coal imports on the month so far in September, importing just 77,090t compared to 323,500t in August, while German imports have been nil for the past two months, data from Marcura show.

  • This is the lowest Australian coal exports to France since June – when around 77,000t was exported.
  • France has also imported around 36,000t from the US so far this month, up from none in August.
  • Germany hasn’t imported Australian coal since July – when 76,320t were bought.
  • South African coal exports to Germany have also been limited this month, with imports at zero compared to 57,000t in August.
