Premier Li-China Willing To Expand Econ & Trade Exchanges w/Russia

In a congratulatory letter to the China-Russia Business Forum, taking place in Shanghai, Premier Li Qiang stated that China is 'willing to further expand economic and trade exchanges with Russia'. Comes on the occasion of Russian PM Mikhail Mishustin's visit to China where he will hold talks with Li as well as President Xi Jinping.

  • According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mishustin is expected to sign a series of deals on infrastructure and trade with Chinese officials.
  • Both Russia and China hit out at western industrialised nations following the weekend's G7 summit in Japan. Russian FM Sergey Lavrov stated that the G7 nations used the summit to indulge 'their own greatness' and that the countries' agenda intended to 'deter' Russia and China. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the meeting 'hindered international peace' and that the group needed to 'reflect on its behavior and change course.'
