Concerns Over Age Of Elected Officials Grows Ahead Of 2024 General Election

US

A new survey from USA Today has found that 72% of Americans endorse setting age limits for lawmakers, adding to previous surveys suggesting that the age of elected officials will play a major role in the 2024 general election.

  • Both Republicans and Democrats expected to highlight the age of presidential frontrunners, President Biden and Former President Trump.
  • Axios reports: “Trump, 77, often mocks the 80-year-old Biden as feeble and confused — even as some of Trump's foes are highlighting the former president's own gaffes and relatively light campaign schedule.”
  • Republican Presidential candidate, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), this week criticised Trump for his physical competence: “This is a different Donald Trump than 2015 and ’16 — lost the zip on his fastball... In 2016, he was freewheeling, he’s out there barnstorming the country. Now, it’s just a different guy. And it’s sad to see.”
