US DATA: Conference Board Consumer Confidence ticked up to 86.6 in May from 85.7
in April, a little below BBG estimates of 87.0.
- Expectations continued to tick higher from the trough (to 96.9, from 94.3 in
April and 86.8 in March), though still well below the 100+ in late 2019/the
early part of 2020.
- As with other recent consumer surveys, the inflation average has increased
again, to 6.2% (expected in 12 months), vs 5.4% in April and 4.5% in March.
