Crude Continues Rise in US Hours

OIL

Crude prices have surged to new intraday highs during US trading, reaching their highest level since Feb. 1.

  • Crude prices are finding support from diminishing hope of either a temporary or permanent ceasefire in the near-term.
  • This is pushing crude back to near levels seen Feb. 1, immediately before exaggerated headlines on the potential for Hamas and Israel agreeing a to a deal caused oil prices to plummet.
  • Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu then appeared to pour cold water on a ceasefire yesterday, telling reporters that Israel, "will not suffice with less," than a decisive victory in their war against Hamas.
