Dangote Refinery to Start Gasoline Output by End March

REFINING

Nigeria’s 650kbpd Dangote refinery has started production, Argus reported in mid-January, while gasoline production is expected to start end-March, Dangote Chief Executive, Aliko Dangote said, cited by the Guardian.

  • “Our refinery has kicked off the refining of crude oil with Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and JETA1 fuel as initial products. We expect gasoline and polypropylene by the end of March. We believe that Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products will be eliminated very soon”, the company’s chief said.
  • At full capacity, the refinery can produce up to 300kbpd of gasoline, with most going to the domestic market according to Argus.
  • The firm expects to offer diesel and jet fuel from this month pending regulator approval, Aliko Dangote said mid-January.
