Debelle Headlines, AOFM Plays Down Need To Extend ACGB Curve

AUSSIE BONDS

The futures curve flattened during overnight trade, given the bid in U.S. Tsys, leaving YM +0.5 and XM +4.0 early on in Sydney, loosely in line with late overnight levels.

  • An interview with the head of the AOFM was seen overnight, which noted that the agency is sceptical of the feasibility of significantly extending the AGCB curve in maturity terms, with "no portfolio benefit to us in having a small amount at 50 years."
  • An address from RBA Deputy Governor Debelle headlines the local docket today, with the topic of "Monetary Policy during Covid" (19:00 Sydney, 10:00 London). Elsewhere, the latest round of scheduled RBA ACGB purchases is due.
