Disapproval Of Biden Spikes Amid Debt Limit Standoff

US

President Joe Biden has seen a significant spike in disapproval as the partisan standoff between the White House and House Republicans over the federal debt limit reflects negatively on the President in polling.

  • According to RealClearPolitics, Biden's approval rating currently sits at 42.4% but the his disapproval is far outstripping his approval, meaning his current approval rating of -13.1% is the lowest the President has recorded since mid-2022 when inflation and economic concerns were at a peak.
  • The highly polarized response is likely due to the partisan nature of ongoing debt limit negotiations with the GOP operating an aggressive media strategy providing regular press gaggles and updates to reporters on the status of negotiations.
