DOLLAR-THB : USD/THB has inched higher, taking out Friday's best levels in the
process. The rate last sits +6 pips at THB31.78, off an earlier high of
THB31.80. USD/THB is nearing its 100-DMA, which intersects at THB31.88, and a
break here would open up May 25 high, located at the round figure of THB32.00.
Bears look for a retreat under the 50-DMA at THB31.47, which would bring the
200-DMA at THB31.17 into view.
- BoT Gov Veerathai said that the country's vital tourism sector will take some
time to return to pre-Covid levels. Veerathai compared Thailand's expected
recovery path to a "check mark with a long tail".
- Participants will closely watch Thailand's cabinet re-shuffle, following the
resignation of FinMin Uttama & Dep PM for Econ Matters Somkid. The new FinMin
will play a key role in the appointment of Veerathai's successor, as the contest
is entering its final stages.
- Thailand's customs office will release trade figures on Wednesday, with a
weekly update on foreign reserves due Friday.
